Hello friends! I have a brand new release to share … Simon Says Stamp’s A Friend Like You. As always, this is a great collection of products to check out; something for everyone! My card features Playful Dophins. I adore dolphins so how happy was I to open up and find the sweetest stamp set ever?! There are coordinating dies that can be purchased separately.

Bokeh

  • A panel of pale blue cardstock, 4 1/4” x 5 1/2”, was stencilled to create a Bokeh background. Pawsitively Saturated Inks Surf, Seafoam and Spring were applied lightly to a circle stencil using a blending tool. I created the stencil by die cutting acetate with several sizes of circles. When stenciling, I like to start with the placement of the largest circles evenly distributed across the panel and then fill in, overlapping them, working my way down through the circle sizes.

  • A light and airy look was created by stencilling the panel with white pigment ink using the In The Round Stencil.

  • Playful Dophins were stamped with Copic friendly ink on a separate piece of white card stock, coloured using W3; 5 & 7 and BG32 and die cut.

  • The Dolphins will float on the card front. Three different sizes of circles were cut from blue vellum. Foam squares were placed on the back of the dolphins and adhered to the vellum circles. More foam squares were added to the back of the circles, hiding them behind the dolphins. They were mounted on the card front.

  • The sentiment was stamped and the card finished off with lots of smooth, clear crystals. White Nuvo Drops were added to the doolphins.

Triple Shaker

  • All of the circles and circle frames were cut using the Thin Circle Frames die set. To create the shaker pockets, a panel of mint green cardstock and white sheet foam were cut to 4 1/4“ x 5 1/2“. The panel was lined up to the foam, the circle dies positioned and run through the die cutter together. This method insured that the circles between the cardstock and the foam would align to one another.

  • The cardstock panel was positioned on the cardbase temporarily so that circles out of Aquamarine Glitter Cardstock could be mounted through the die cut openings and would align when the shaker pocket panel was adhered to it.

  • A panel of acetate was sandwiched between the card stock and foam panels. I like to use my Misti to adhered the shaker to the cardbase. The foam insert was removed, and the foam backed panel placed face down into the corner of the stamping platform. The shaker material, pastel coloured crystals, was added to the three independent shakers. Adhesive was added to the foam panel and the card base laid on top, pushing it up into the corner of the Misti. Perfectly aligned!

  • For additional interest, the frames from the circles cut from the Aquamarine Glitter Cardstock were adhered overlapping the die cut circles, and each other. To avoid adhesive smears on the acetate, these thin frames were dotted with Tombow adhesive and left to dry until it was in its tacky state.

  • Playful Dophins were stamped with Copic friendly ink on a separate piece of white card stock, coloured using W3; 5 & 7 and BG32, die cut and mounted in the circles with foam squares.

  • The card was finished up with additional crystals highlighting some of the circle circles.

Stencilling

  • The background for this card was created with two different stencils; In The Round and Waves. A third of an A2 panel of light blue cardstock was masked off and inked with Surf before stencilling In The Round with white pigment ink.

  • The other 2/3 of the panel was stencilled using Surf with the Waves stencil.

  • A border of 1/4” glitter washi tape was adhered between the two stencilled backgrounds.

  • The sentiment was stamped in black ink over the waves.

  • The stamped images from Playful Dophins were coloured with R20/000, RV42, YR01/02 and G20/21/24. The images were cut and adhered to the panel with either liquid adhesive or foam squares.

  • The panel was embellished with both smooth, clear crystals, and Nuvo Crystal Drops Simply White.
