Die Cut and Foiled Christmas Card featuring Spellbinders’ Winter Welcome Sled

Updated: Aug 12, 2022

Hello everyone! I have a sweet Christmas set featuring Spellbinders' Winter Welcome Sled. I love this die set! It brings back many memories .... sledding with a friend and our kids (one time, she broke her arm!!!), skating on the pond in the still of the night with a brazier burning to warm up, going on long walks in the woods through DEEP snow pulling a sled full of pups ... three Dachshunds and a Chihuahua all bundled up! I adore sets like these. So nostalgic.

Basically, every element for both the tag and the card are the same so were put together at the same time. I began by constructing the backgrounds for both. Pomegranate card stock was foiled in gold using Plaid Tidings Background. A panel for the card was cut using a rectangular die. A die from Essential Diamonds was used for the tag.

Card - The foiled panel was mounted on black sheet foam and adhered to a black matted, A2 sized card base.

Tag - The die from Create A Decorative Tag was used to cut black cardstock. A hole was punched on the top of the diamond panel. The holes of the tag and diamond were aligned when adhered together.

The sleds were die cut from a combination of grey wood grained and silver card stock and assembled. They were very easy to put together. I mounted the sled frame on a foam die cut to lift it off the background. For the sled on the tag, baker's twine was attached through the holes on the steering mechanism. There are four dies for the skate; the blade was cut from silver card stock, the boot and string from black and the boot overlay with the cute lace details from white. This set also comes with poinsettia and foliage. Each poinsettia was layered, offset, with two die cuts. The holly has a vein detail that was attached and then the edges of all of the pieces were a accented with glitter before being attached to the sleds.

For the tag, baker's twine was used for the tie and a die cut sentiment from Silent Night Make A Scene was adhered to the bottom of the sled. The sentiment for the card is from Glitter Wishes and was hot foiled in gold on black card stock. The sentiment and black foam were cut with the accompanying die, stacked and adhere to the bottom of the card. Both cards have red confetti finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew for final touches.
