Time to Celebrate a Birthday with Spellbinders’ Shopping Carts

Hello everyone! Alright! Today's cards feature Spellbinders’ new die set, SHOPPING CART, and one of the accessory add-on, SHOPPING CART PARTY ON! These are the CUTEST die sets EVER! I love how versatile the Shopping Cart die set is. Spellbinders have different accessory sets so you can create cards for any occasion. Today’s cards are all about preparations for a fabulous birthday celebration!

I began by constructing the shopping cards; one out of gold glitter paper (why not?!😂) and the other from pale blue card stock. For each cart, I cut:

  • Two sides of the basket. For ease of die cutting, I like to centre the detail die in the outline and use Post-it Note tape to hold them together.

  • Choose the depth for the cart. Two die cuts will be needed to construct the front and back of the cart. Trim one of them down following the horizontal score lines. Crease the vertical score lines on both pieces. The tall u-shaped channel will form the back of the cart. The shorter piece is the front.

  • Cut the bottom of the cart once. Crease the score lines.

  • Cut one or two handles … I cut two.

  • Cut one or handle grips and basket accessory detail.

  • Cut one under carriage.

  • Cut one of wheels and hubs unless an accent colour is wanted fo the hubs.

To assemble the shopping cart,

  • adhere the u-shaped channels to the front and back of one of sides of the basket. The ends of the u-shaped channels are angled; line them up so they match the angle of the basket.

  • adhere the bottom of the cart by dotting each flap with glue and inserting either end into the bottom of the u-shaped channels.

  • attach the other side the basket to the flap on the u-shaped channel.

  • adhere the basket to the under carriage. The bottom of the basket will follow the angle of the top frame and appears to be tilting upwards.

  • adhere the handle(s), handle grip(s), basket accessor, wheels and hubs.

DONE!!! If you are working with glitter card stock like I did for one of my carts, be forewarned! The pieces need to be held together until the glue sets … patience required! Now let’s make the cards!

Two sentiments strips for each card were foiled from Spellbinders’ Mini Everyday Sentiments Glimmer set. Red foil was used for the card with the blue card and blue for the one with the gold card. The sentiments were cut with banner dies included in the set And mounted on foam die cuts.

The background was created with dies from Spellbinders’ Spring Flowers Card Creator. The die cuts were adhered to an A2 size piece of white card stock. The sentiment strip was adhered to the bottom of the card.

For the contents of the cart, I used the adorable Shopping Cart Party On die set. All the pieces were die cut from either vellum or the two card stock colours used in the cart. They were mounted on foam die cuts except for the flourish on the mask. Gold accents were added to the champagne bottles. A shopping bag was constructed with Spellbinders’ Shopping Bags die set. Please see the link at the end of this post for details on putting these sweet bags together. The flower centres were embellished with white Nuvo Crystal Drops. A few sequins top up with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew finished these cards.
