Memorydex Card Holder – Project Details

The Memorydex Card Holder Box is both functional and decorative, making it the perfect home for your growing collection of Memorydex cards. Before assembly, the interior sides of the holder were painted with black acrylic paint to create a clean, finished look. Patterned papers from Canvas Play, PA-44 were traced, fussy cut, and embellished and distressed.

Additional texture and interest were added using AALL & Create Rub-Ons from Emerald Azure (#13) and Wanderlust Passport (#15), followed by light stencilling with white texture paste through Circular Disruption (PC-249). The edges were distressed using Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink, and the panels were finished with splatters of both white and black paint for a mixed-media feel and then adhered to the box sides

For assembly, the dowels were inserted into the aligned holes on the smaller side panels—these were a snug fit, so a small craft hammer helped apply even pressure. Each side panel was then connected using the interlocking joints, with a touch of adhesive added for extra stability. Once assembled, the dowel holder slips neatly inside, ready to be filled with Memorydex cards.

Memorydex Challenge Card – Theme: Winter

For the Winter-themed Memorydex card, the Neighbourwoods MEMORYDEX (#69) die set was used to cut both the main background and the layered panel, along with three of the coordinating houses. The smaller panel was coloured with Distress Mica Stains in Fresh Balsam, Shiny Bauble, and Winter Frost, then stacked with black sheet foam for dimension.

The houses were coloured using Distress Stains (Fossilized Amber, Kitsch Flamingo, and Abandoned Coral) and gently toned down with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. A soft frame of Black Soot Ink was added around the panel edges before adhering it to the white card base.

The reindeer from Reindeer Stamps (#611) was coloured with COPIC markers (E41–E44, C7, and accents in R000, 81, and 85), fussy cut, and popped up with foam squares. Sentiments were created using both a handwritten word and a stamped word from Mad Tea Party (#502), distressed with Vintage Photo, and layered onto the card.

To finish, the entire card was splattered with white paint, and Stone Drops – Chalk White were added to rooftops, antlers, and ground areas to create a beautifully realistic snowy texture.
