Card Details

The focal point of this card is the iconic dumpster-in-flames image, built entirely with layered die cuts. The dumpster itself was die cut from Colorwheel Oceanside cardstock, with black accents adding depth and definition. This set includes three different flame sizes, which makes it easy to build a dynamic, fiery scene.

Each flame was die cut twice from red, yellow, and white vellum. To vary the look and avoid perfect symmetry, the bottoms of the duplicate flames were trimmed slightly to adjust their heights. The flames were then layered from smallest to largest and adhered behind the dumpster for a realistic, flickering effect.

For the background, two dies from the Bow and Bell Scallop Frame were used—one cut from black cardstock and the other from white. These were layered together and mounted onto an A2-sized card base, creating a clean, graphic frame that really lets the image pop.

The sentiment—one of nine included in the set—was stamped and centred along the bottom of the layered panels. To push the fun factor even further, the dumpster was attached using an Action Wobble. It’s delightfully sensitive, so even picking up the card causes subtle movement, which makes the flames appear almost alive.
