Tone on Tone with Simon Says Stamp's XL Greetings 2

Updated: Jan 12

Hello everyone! Have you checked out Simon Says Stamp's new release .... so many fabulous products! These cards feature the new XL Greetings 2. I love sentiment sets and this one meets all my criteria for a 'GO TO' stamp set:

• big sentiments ready to take centre stage

• suitable for any occasion as a main or supporting sentiment (or both!)

• plays nice with other stamp sets

• timeless and heartfelt

This set of three cards couples XL Greetings 2 with the Clustered Leaves collection: Outline Leaves Background, Outline Clustered Leaves and Clustered Leaves. I worked with three colours of card stock and distress oxide inks to create backgrounds using the red rubber stamp, Outline Leaves Background:

Teal card stock with Peacock Feathers ink

Orange card stock with Carved Pumpkin ink

Amber card stock with Fossilized Amber ink

After the card stock was stamped, it was clear embossed with Simon Says Says Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder. Matte gold card stock was used to die cut two branches of the Clustered leaves to be shared between all three cards.

Teal Card

The embossed panel was die cut with Simon Says Stamp's Thanks Scallop Border die and adhered to matte gold card stock and then sheet foam. The sentiment FRIEND from XL Greeting 2 was stamped and embossed twice with Ink on 3's Gold Rush embossing powder on an A2 sized teal card panel and adhered to a card base of the same size. The scalloped panel was attached to the top of the card and embellished with a spray of the gold leaves. Teal card stock was die cut from Outline Clustered Leaves. The stem was dotted with Tombow glue and left to dry. The tacky stems were layered onto the gold ones and the leaves lifted for dimension. The card was finished off with gold confetti topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.

Amber Card

The embossed panel, plain amber card stock and sheet foam were die cut with the scalloped frame from Simon Says Stamp's Frames die set. This die produces a rounded corner rectangle and a scalloped frame. The sentiment from XL Greetings 2 was embossed on vellum with Ink on 3's Gold Rush embossing powder and wrapped around the embossed rectangular panel. The vellum strip was held in place at the back of the panel with tape. This panel was mounted on the foam die cut and adhered to the centre of an A2 sized card base. The plain amber scalloped frame was secured around the rectangle. A spray of leaves and confetti embellish the card.

Orange Card

The embossed panel was die cut with the largest die in My Favorite Thing's Stitched Rectangles Stax 2. The stitched rectangle and foam were cut with the 4th smallest die in Simon Says Stamp's A2 Fine Frames. The embossed frame was mounted on the foam die cut and adhered to a card base. Plain orange and matte gold card stock were also die cut with this frame die. The sentiment from XL Greetings 2 was embossed twice on the small orange panel with Ink on 3's Gold Rush embossing powder. The gold frame was placed around the small panel and held in place with tape. It was adhered in the recess of the embossed frame. Several smaller sprays of leaves highlight the top of the sentiment panel. The card is finished up with confetti topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
