Tone on Tone Stamping Technique in Masculine Style Sympathy Cards

Updated: Jan 12

Hello everyone! I hope your new year is off to a great start! I am off to the hospital tomorrow to have my cast removed and I am very excited. Although I have grown accustomed to doing things with it on, I am looking forward to everything I undertake becoming less time consuming! What will I do with all my spare time?! LOL!

The Background

Today's cards are a three for two deal! Two backgrounds, three cards featuring products by Simon Says Stamp; Damask, Outline Clustered Leaves, and Moments of Grace. I began by stamping two A2 sized panels of Simon's Soft Navy Card Stock with the Damask background stamp. I used their ink by the same name to create the tone on tone background. One panel was trimmed into two pieces; 1" and 2 1/2" widths. On the full piece panel I trimmed off 1/4" from the 4 1/4" width. The panels were mounted on black sheet foam along with a 1/4" strip of specialty paper by Tonic Studio. The tone on tone panels were mounted on A2 sized card bases.

The Elements

The main sentiments were embossed with copper embossing powder. The secondary sentiments for the cards with the white space were stamped with Versafine ink. For the full tone on tone card, the secondary sentiment was embossed on black card stock and stacked on black foam. The die cut from the clustered leaves is large. It was cut apart and shared between the 3 cards. Accents using Nuvo Crystal Drops Dirty Bronze add detail to the leaves.
