Spooky Night Sky featuring Simon Says Stamp’s Layered Bats

Hello everyone! Halloween is just around the corner and our neighbourhood is looking very spooky! I have a couple of slimline cards with eerie night skies stencilled with Simon Says Stamp’s LAYERED BATS. Hopefully these cards put you in the mood for all the fun that lies ahead whether it be a Halloween ‘get together’ or ‘trick or treating’!

A colour wash was created using Gansai Tambi water colours on Canson XL water colour paper. Using the second largest die from Pinkfresh Studio’s Slim Stitched Rectangles, two panels were cut. Simon’s CLOUDS FOR DAY was used to create subtle clouds stencilled with Distress Oxide inks Antique Linen and Wilted Violet. The LAYERED BATS is a two piece stencil set. I stencilled the smaller bats first with Distres Oxide Black Soot. Delicata White Shimmer ink was used to stencil on the next ‘cauldron’ of bats! The panels were spattered with both white and black gouache.

The panels were mounted on black sheet foam before being adhered to black card stock slightly larger than the panel. They were adhered to card base measuring 3 3/4” by 8 3/4”. The sentiment BOO, from Simon’s BOO WORD AND SHADOW, was die cut 4 times from scraps of the colour wash paper and mounted on foam. The secondary sentiment from Simon’s BOO DAY was also stamped on the same paper and mounted on foam.

Simon’s TRICK OR TREAT is a two piece die set. The shadow die was used to cut soft navy card stock and the scripty words were cut from black. The secondary sentiment from Simon’s BOO DAY was stamped on black card stock and embossed with white embossing powder. Both cards were embellished with lilac sequins topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
