Hello everyone! I have another scheduled post featuring two gorgeous stamp sets by Studio Katia. Peony Trimmings comes with two different panels of floral images and several sentiments. I will, however, be using the big and bold sentiment from It's Your Birthday in conjunction with the peony images.
To begin this card, I stamped the floral image vertically on the left side of an A2 sized panel of Bristol Smooth card stock with Ink on 3 Fadeout ink. I stamped the panel in my Misti so I could repeat the stamping with this very softly coloured ink. I can see the image well making this ink perfect for no line colouring.
The detail in these floral images is amazing! Because I am doing no line colouring, I do not want colour to spill out into other areas. For this reason, I have chosen to work with Zig markers and a number 1 sized paint brush. For the leaves, I will be working with Light Green and Persian Green. One colour will be used for each of the flowers; Light Violet, Deep Violet and Purple. For the flower centres, I will use two yellows; Pale Yellow and Yellow. For both the petals and the leaves I apply colour to the base and use the lightly wetted paint brush to pull the colour out. Where petals overlap, I also shade. For the creases on the petal's edge, a fine inverted 'V' is painted. All lines are softened using water sparingly. Because so little water is used, no drying time is required when working on petals next to each other.
Distress Oxide Inks were used to stamp Happy Birthday to You. I inked the top half of the stamp with Picked Raspberry and the lower half with Wilted Violet making sure they overlapped in the middle to create a blend. The sentiment was inked, stamped twice and embossed with WOW! embossing powder. The sparkle is awesome! The secondary sentiment was stamped with Versafine black ink.
A 4 1/4" by 5 ½" black card stock was adhered to an A2 sized card base. The painted panel was trimmed down to leave an 1/8" border and attached to the black card stock. To finish up, a few clear gems from Studio Katia's June Crystals mix were placed around the floral image and sentiment to embellish the card.
