Paper Pieced Sentiments on Mini Slimline Cards

Hello everyone! I am now approaching the last weekend before the movers arrive. I feel like I have been preparing for this move forever! Pretty sure it sounded like that on this blog, too! Sorry! I hope I am not going to have this same feeling on the other end during the unpacking and settling stage! I have been squeezing in cards here and there to post for some new releases at the end of the month .... I will be posting but I am certain I won't be crafting for a couple of weeks. And as I write, I am thinking, "Am I being optimistic with my time line?" ... hmmmm!!!

Anyways, on to a cute little set of cards featuring an awesome new nesting die set by Simon Says Stamp ... Mini Slimline Rectangles from the All The Feels release. I have to say I am loving this card size ... perfect for quick and easy cards to feature a sentiment. AND I love tiny cards .... cuteness! In today's cards, I used a number of Simon's wafer word dies. Their sentiment die cuts were the perfect size for these mini slimline cards.

I began by creating diagonal, paper pieced panels. To cut the strips, I used the middle sized die in Pinkfresh Studio's Slim Stripes. These dies are fantastic making the job of paper piecing super efficient. I glued (typically I would use my wide double sided tape but it was packed) the card stock strips onto copy paper.

TIP .... When you plan to die cut a paper pieced panel, adhere the strips to copy paper. It can be quite a chore to cut through two layers of card stock. Die cutting through card stock adhered to copy paper is easy!

The combination of Simon Says Stamp's card stock used for the navy background cards included Soft Navy, Peacock Teal and Island Blue. For the other two cards, I used Soft Navy, Peacock Teal, Lemon Chiffon and Lavender. The sentiments for the cards were die cut from the paper pieced panels and white sheet foam. When stacked, they were set aside to dry to prevent the foam from accidentally shifting out of alignment with the card stock die cut.

Simon Says Stamp's Mini Slimline Rectangles comes with six dies. This nesting die set is not only great for creating mini slimline cards! It is also a great set for highlighting sentiments and images on any sized card! I used the three largest dies to create layers for today's cards. The white central panel was foam mounted and adhered to either a teal or navy panel. The layered panel was attached to card bases measuring 3 1/8" by 6 1/4". I like to use Neenah Classic Crest 110lb card stock for my card bases ... super sturdy. AND NO WORRIES, Simon has cute little mini slimline envelopes available with both a side and top opening! They think of everything! I have linked a few below that coordinate with these cards.

To finish up the cards, the sentiments were glued to the panels. For the one card with the secondary sentiments from Simon's Be Kind stamp set, I lined up the the stamps with the die cut sentiment in place but not adhered. I stamped with Distress Oxide Ink Peacock Feathers and embossed it with Simon Says Stamp's clear embossing powder. The die cut sentiment was then adhered to the panel. I embellished these cards with silver confetti topped up with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew!
