Paper Pieced Christmas Tags featuring Eucalyptus Fantasy

Updated: Jan 12

Hello everyone! I have a couple of paper pieced Christmas tags featuring Pinkfresh Studio's Eucalyptus Fantasy and Color Block Stripes. Eucalyptus Fantasy is so versatile! By changing a few of the eucalyptus leaves to berries, it is perfect for Christmas tags and cards. I made two of each design ... getting ready for Christmas!

The Background

The tags are fairly large measuring 3" by 6". I did not have any 'ready made' tags on hand and remembered I had an older Tim Holtz die, Tag and Bookplates ... one of the first dies I ever purchased. I cut four tags; two from black card stock and two from white. A reinforcer, (included on the Holtz die) for each tag was die cut from matte gold card stock.

I used Pinkfresh Studio's Color Block Stripes to cut strips of paper ... if you like paper piecing, this die is great timesaver. For the black tags with the vertical stripes, I cut green, dark and light grey and matte gold card stock. For the white tags with the diagonal stripes, mirror, textured and glitter gold card stock were cut. I used Sookwang's double sided adhesive to adhere the paper strips.

The Elements

The leafy images were embossed with gold embossing powder and coloured with Zig markers. For the wreath, Deep Red, Olive Green and Mid green were used. The same colours were used for the large spray with the addition of Marine Green for the slender leaves. The images and black sheet foam were die cut and stacked.

The Sentiments

Simon Says Stamp's sentiment dies, O Holy Night, was die cut from matte gold card stock and black sheet foam and stacked. The shadow die from Simon Says Stamp's, Hope, was die cut in red and foam and also stacked. The script was cut from matte gold and adhered to the foam backed shadow.

Putting It Together

The sentiment was attached before adhering the leafy image to the bottom of the tag. Gold string was looped though the hole and tacked down. Glue Dots adhered the jingle bells. Gold ribbon was also looped through the hole and a glue dot used between the two ribbons at the base to secure it. A slender leaf sprig was attached below the ribbon along with a gold die cut leaf sprig that was foam mounted. The berries were embellished with Nuvo Glitter Drops, Pink Champagne.

The foam mounted wreath was adhered to the bottom of the card with the sentiment attached to the centre. The red ribbon was looped and secured with a Glue Dot. A spray was created with two eucalyptus sprigs and a foam mounted gold leafy one. It was glued below the ribbon and two teeny tiny jingle bells were attached with

Glue Dots. The berries were embellished with the glitter drops.
