Interactive Slider featuring Simon Says Stamp’s Spring Flowers 4

Updated: Jan 12

It has been a LONG TIME since I made an interactive card! And the video tutorial will reflect that! As much as this post is about ‘what to do’, it more importantly shows 'what not to do’!!! My written instructions will not include my BIG mistake so as not to confuse you! That can be viewed in the video! We learn by our mistakes, right?!!

Today's card features a number of Simon Says Stamp's products; Spring Flowers 4, Clouds for Days, Bee Happy and the Quintuple Slider. I used the slider a little differently than what I think was its intended purpose ... the more ways we can utilize what we have, the better!

THE BACKGROUND

I began this card by ink blending the back panel with Distress Oxide Inks; Bundled Sage, Iced Spruce, Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac. Clouds were stencilled using Clouds for Days with Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac.

THE SLIDER

The Quintuple Slider comes with three dies. The die on left was used to cut a slider panel that was inked with Bundled Sage and Iced Spruce. Channels were created in this panel with tabs. The lower half of the background panel was die cut with the die on the right. This die creates a series of slots for the tabs slide in and wrap around bars connecting the slider panel to the background panel. I did not connect the 2nd and 4th channel. These were shorter runs and I needed the slider panel to extend to the top half of the background panel. Low profile foam tape was used to attach the background to an A2 sized Neenah Solar White 110lb card base. I was careful to avoid the area with the slider mechanism.

THE ELEMENTS

Several branches and single leaves from Spring Flowers 4 were stamped on Strathmore's Bristol Smooth card stock with Tombow markers in greens and lilac. This faux, no line water colour technique is quick and easy. The fussy cutting was time consuming! The leaves were layered onto a 4 1/4" X 2 3/4" panel inked with Bundled Sage and Iced Spruce. This small panel was attached to the background panel with low profile foam tape. Again, I avoided the slider mechanism. The bee and flower from Bee Happy were coloured with Tombow markers, fussy cut and adhered to the slider panel. The pull detail from the Quintuple Slider set was die cut. The circle was inked with Shaded Lilac and the arrow was embossed with gold embossing powder.

THE SENTIMENT

The sentiments were from Bee Happy. BEELIEVE was embossed with gold embossing powder and the secondary sentiment was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink.
