Inlaid Paper Piecing ... no glue, no fuss, no mess with Picket Fence A2 Cherry Blossom Cover Plate

Hello everyone! Picket Fence Studio's new A2 Cherry Blossom Cover Plate is absolutely gorgeous! I love paper piecing but if you are dealing with glue or tape runner it can become a bit tedious. I have any easy method for inlaid paper piecing that is easy with no mess ... and allows for a little something special to be added to the inlay work!

The inlay work was built on an A2 sized panel (4 1/4" by 5 1/2"). Sookwang double sided tape is used to cover the panel. I used 4 strips of 1" inch tape and 1 piece of 1/4" tape to cover the panel vertically. The backing paper was removed and the four wide strips were placed horizontally across the panel. A2 Cherry Blossom Cover Plate was die cut out of black card stock. The outline die cut was aligned to the top of panel and adhered one section at a time by removing the backing paper one piece at a time.

The cover plate die was used to die cut ivory card stock. The background pieces were inlaid first. The flowers were die cut from two different soft tones of pink card stock. The middle bloom on both floral sprays were inlaid with the lightest pink and the rest in the darker. Fine glitter was applied to the centre, netted area of the panel. After knocking off the loose glitter, a stencil brush followed by a microfibre cloth takes care of any stray glitter.

The sentiment from Fancy Friendship Sentiments was stamped with Intense Black ink on ivory card stock. The sentiment and black foam were cut with the coordinating die and stacked. After the sentiment was attached to the card, it was embellished with sequins from the Day of Rainbows sequin mix and finished off with Nuvo Dream Drops Cloud Nine.
