Ink Smooshed Resist Background

Happy New Year, everyone, and HELLO 2021! I had a quiet evening with my friend, Netflix! We did get to enjoy a fireworks display from my perch halfway up the mountain at 6pm! That was a colourful and unexpected surprise .... the kind you like! Best wishes to all of you for a healthy, happy New Year! Here's to a steady progression toward NORMAL!!!

I am starting 2021 off with an ink smooshed resist background featuring Pinkfresh Studio's Nested Chevron background stamp and die and Fancy Blooms. The nested chevron stamp is quite cool as each chevron can be stamped separately ... I will be exploring that in another set of cards at a later date. Here we go!

The Background

An A2 sized panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock was ink smooshed with Distress Oxide Ink, Picked Raspberry. I left a fair amount of white to create a marbled effect. When the panel was dry, it was stamped with the nested chevron using Versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. Distress Oxide Ink, Shaded Lilac. was blended over the entire background and a soft cloth used to remove any ink sitting on the embossed areas. The chevrons and white sheet foam were die cut using the coordinating die and stacked together. The stacked chevrons and lilac insets were adhered to white card stock and trimmed down to 5 1/4" by 4". A bit like putting a puzzle together!!!

The Elements

The spray of flowers from Fancy Blooms was stamped on Bristol Smooth and embossed with white embossing powder. Additional leaves were stamped and embossed on vellum to add to the floral arrangement. Everything was fussy cut. Zig markers were used to color the floral arrangement and the vellum leaves were adhered to the flowers before mounting on some foam. The sentiment, Simon Says Stamp's Hello, was die cut from white card stock and foam and stacked. To finish the card up, pretty sequins were accented with Nuvo Crystal Drops, Morning Dew and the leaves and berries were touched up with Nuvo Glitter Drops, White Blizzard.

Thank you so much for your visit!

Happy New Year!
