Hello everyone! I hope you are well and enjoying all the inspiration coming your way from Simon Says Stamp! I have another card featuring the STAMPtember exclusive Happy Birthday Brush Script, one of many newly released products. I noticed this item is sold out BUT it will be restocked! Yay!!! Today's balloon shaped birthday card highlights a fun die cutting technique and some good information about glue!
The Background
I began with an A2 sized top folding card base made from Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock. The top flap was die cut with the largest die from Simon Says Stamp's Balloons. See the video describing the technique used. The balloon was ink blended with Distress Oxide inks; Shaded Lilac, Picked Raspberry, and Spun Sugar. The inside flap was ink blended with Chipped Sapphire. The balloon was stencilled with Simon Says Stamp's In The Round using Cosmic Shimmer, Opal Blaze Polish (Gilded Avocado).
The Elements
The panda and presents from Simon Says Stamp's Party Like a Panda were stamped on Neenah Classic Crest 110lb card stock with Simon's Intense Black ink ... copic friendly! The presents, icing and candles were coloured with Copic markers BV13,17, R81,83 and RV52 and 55. E42 and 44 were used for the cake and the panda was shaded with W2. The images were fussy cut. See the video for a technique to apply super small dots of black Nuvo Crystal drops on the panda's eyes ... no zombie panda for this card!!!
The Sentiment
The shadow die from Happy Birthday Brush Script was used to die cut the balloon panel. The sentiment was cut from the shadow die cut. Tombow glue was dotted on 'Happy Birthday' and left to dry. Tombow dries tacky allowing the time and flexibility to inset the sentiment on the blue panel without the worry of glue residue getting on it (leaving a shiny mess!).
