Hello everyone! In card making, my biggest challenge is scene building. I am inspired by what others seem to pull together effortlessly. For me, I struggle to know if my scenes lack detail or have too much. I love using multiple window backgrounds to create small vignettes. It is a much easier undertaking working within a small space. So here is my take on the faBOOlously cute BOO DAY by Simon Says Stamp.
I first used Distress Spray Stain on Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb card stock. It was applied in a couple of thin layers for each colour using Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet. The panel was cut with Pink fresh Studio’s Slim Braided Circles Panel. This die was also used to cut black sheet foam. Both the panel and circles were mounted on the foam die cuts. They were adhered to black card stock slightly larger than the panels and then on to card bases measuring 3 3/4” by 8 3/4”
The images were stamped on Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb card stock with the Copic friendly, Black Memento ink. They were coloured simply as follows:
pumpkins - YR02, 07, 09
stems, leaves - G14, 17
ghosts, mummies - W0, 4
accessory details - Y18, G14, E43, YR07
For this card, I used some adorable Candy Corn stickers on the background. The foam mounted circles were adhered to build the mini scenes on. The ghosts in the top and bottom vignettes were adhered with foam squares as was the mummified pumpkin on the second one. The card was embellished with dark iridescent sequins topped up with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew. Morning Dew was also applied to the eyes on all the images. Some details were finished with Nuvo Glitter Drops White Blizzard. The sentiments for both cards are from Simon’s Creepy Cute, an older stamp set, and were stamped with Black Versafine on some leftover distress spray inked card stock. They were embossed with Nuvo Shimmering Pearl embossing powder.
The images for this card required no additional dimension. The pumpkins were adhered in the recessed background of the circles and the ghosts sit on top of the foam backed panel. The finishings for this card are the same as the other except tiny star sequins were adhered in the night sky.
