Hello everyone! It is time to get ready for Halloween and I have three cute and creepy cards perfect for a GHOULfriend or BOOfriend! Today’s cards feature Alex Syberia Design’s newly released HALLOWEEN OWL, HALLOWEEN PUMPKINS and SPIDER WEB!
I began by ink blending Bristol Smooth card stock. The images were first printed on copy paper just to transfer measurements to the card stock. The backgrounds were inked with Distress Oxide inks:
Halloween Pumpkins - Black Soot, Faded Jeans, Fossilized Amber
Halloween Owl - Black Soot, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron
Spider Web - Black Soot, Seedless Preserves
The images were printed on the ink blended card stock.
For Halloween Owl, I began by inking ghosts with a small blending brush and Hero Arts Unicorn White ink. All the images were coloured with Copic markers except the bats. They were coloured with a fine black Sharpie.

The die cut sentiment, Simon Says Stamp’s Boo Word and Shadow, were cut from green glitter and black card stock. The sentiment strip, from Simon Says Stamp's Boo Day, was stamped with black Versafine and clear embossed on ink blended card stock using the same greens in the background. Both sentiments were mounted on foam. Black Nuvo Drops finish the ghosts eyes and Nuvo Morning Dew enhances the owl’s eyes.
Like the previous card, ghosts were brush inked on the background. The pumpkins were Copic coloured alternating between four colour ways:
V20, 22, 25
BG45, 49, 57
YR07, 09, 18
YR04, 14, 16
The facial features were coloured with Y17 and a black gel pen was used to colour in the carved shadow shaping the eyes. The die cut sentiment, Simon Says Stamp’s Boo Word and Shadow, was cut from black card stock and ‘painted’ with Nuvo Glitter Drops White Blizzard. The sentiment strip, from Simon’s Creepy Cute, was stamped with Versamark and white embossed. Both sentiments were mounted on foam. The ghosts were finished up with black Nuvo Drop. Black iridescent sequins embellish the card and were finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew. The pumpkins eyes were dotted with Dandelion Yellow Nuvo Drops and left to dry before completely covering the eye with Morning Dew.
This card evolved while I made it as you will see in the video! The web was traced with a silver Gelly Roll pen. The sentiment, Simon Says Stamp's Trick or Treat was recessed using the shadow die to cut both the panel and black sheet foam. When stacked, they were adhered to black card stock and then an A2 sized card base. The script sentiment was cut from matte silver card stock. The digital spider image was enlarged and printed. After fussy cutting, it was coated with black Nuvo Drops. The web was embellished with sequins and topped with the Nuvo black as well.
