Hello everyone! I hope this post finds you well! My start to yesterday was a little emotional as I listened to the Prime Minister of Canada's daily Coronavirus Update. I find it difficult to comprehend the global impact of this virus and, at times, feel overwhelmed. After shedding a few tears, I pulled myself together and got busy making today's card featuring a new release by Graciellie Design, Far Away Hugs. This digital stamp set includes a beautiful floral and many touching sentiments. I chose a sentiment that resonated with me .... I believe strongly that a kind word or act of kindness goes a long way to brighten someone’s day.
The elements...
I began this card by printing images on Canson Mix Media paper. I used a 'wet on dry' technique to paint the flower and leaves with Sennelier Watercolours. The colours included various tones of pink and purple and a wash of soft yellow applied to the highlight areas. The clean outline edge of the images allowed them to be easily fussy cut. I used a Mcgill ball tool and shaping mat to sculpt the flower to enhance the dimension.
The background...
An ink blended backdrop was created on Bristol Smooth card stock using Distress Oxide Ink, Wilted Violet. The ink was applied on a diagonal working with firm pressure on the top corner and progressing with lighter pressure to the opposite, lower corner. This panel was stencilled with the same ink and left to dry completely. The stencil was lined up on the panel, Versamark ink applied and embossed with WOW! embossing powder. The panel was die cut with Simon Says Stamp, A2 Thin Frame. A frame was also cut from white glitter paper. The outer edge of the ink blended panel and the white, glitter frame were adhered to an A2 sized card base. The smaller panel was mounted on white sheet foam and attached to the card.
The sentiment...
The small sentiment panel was inked with Versamark ink and also embossed with WOW! embossing powder and adhered to sheet foam.
The embellishments...
After the flower, leaves and sentiment were attached to the card, the flower centre and petal edges were painted with Nuvo Glitter Drops. (Lots of sparkle on this card that brightened my mood immensely!!!) The card was finished up with a few lilac crystals.
