Die Cut Vellum Overlay featuring Simon Says Stamp’s FINE PETAL BACKGROUND PLATE

Hello everyone! I have another card featuring Simon Says Stamp’s FINE PETAL BACKGROUND PLATE and ETCHED STYLIZED BUTTERFLY. (links to other posts using these products are below) Life periodically presents challenges, disappointments and heart ache … and when it does, I like to have a card on hand to let someone know I am “here for you”.

The background plate was used to die cut vellum. Vellum is delicate compared to card stock and needs to removed carefully from this die. I start at the bottom working my up so as not to tear the flowers. To apply adhesive that would not show through the vellum, I used Xyron’s Creative Station Sticker Maker. If you are not familiar with this tool, the adhesive is applied by rolling it through much like a die cutter. For the Fine Petal die cut, I fed the die cut bottom first to avoid issues with the flowers. After a quick burnishing, the die cut was removed from the release paper and mounted on a pink card stock panel measuring 4 1/8” by 5 3/8”. The panel was adhered to sheet foam before being attached to an A2 sized, top folding card base.

The wings of the ETCHED STYLIZED BUTTERFLY were die cut from vellum and run through the sticker maker. They were adhered to white glitter paper and fussy cut. I find it difficult to adhere anything to glitter paper and so I ran the wings through the die cutter to help compress the vellum to the backing. The body was die cut from the glitter paper and glued to the panel. The wings were attached with foam squares on the outer edges and glue where it met the butterfly’s body.

Simon’s HERE FOR YOU was die cut from both glitter paper and foam. To stack the sentiment, the foam die cut was left in its backing and the centres of the letters removed. Glue was applied to the foam die cut and the glitter one stacked on top. The impression on the foam die cut allows the sentiments to be easily aligned. I used a craft pick in the letter centre openings for adjustments. It is set aside to dry before removing the excess foam. I typically stack my sentiments and this method can be seen in many of my videos. The card was embellished with a few iridescent confetti topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
