Hello everyone! Bonnie here from BONNIECAROLLEE.com . Are you sometimes stumped for a background? Sometimes I pick out a beautiful design and then stew over a backdrop for it. Today’s cards look at Copic colouring on patterned paper. I love the hint of texture that peeks through the colours and the background is complete! The digital images were printed on patterned paper. Initially I chose light prints as I thought these would work best for the colouring. For Madame Dahlia, I was a bit more adventurous and chose something bolder and busier! And I love how it turned out! It was a little tricky identifying the petals at first, but as I got going, colouring one petal at a time, my eyes adapted to what I was looking for!.
The images were Copic coloured with the following:
Tulip Close-Up - flower one Y17, 13, 11; flower two YR65, 62, 000; stem G14, 12
Madame Dahlia - RV69, 55, 02
Lotus - flower YR09, 04, 01; stem G02, 00; flower centre Y18, 11
The colouring was straight forward beginning with the dark tone at the base of each petal and working toward the tip with the mid and light tones. I was surprised how beautifully the markers blended on the patterned paper.
The panels were cut to 4 1/8” by 5 3/8” and mounted on black matted, A2 sized card bases. The same patterned paper was used to die cut sentiments by Simon Says Stamp; Four Seasons, Big Hugs and Happy Birthday Brush Script. The sentiments were mounted on foam die cuts to help them stand out from the background. The cards were embellished with pretty Satin Rainbow confetti by Studio Katia. They were finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew to tive them a jewel-like appearance.
