Hello everyone! This card features a great sentiment set by Simon Says Stamp, Happy Days, and a couple of older favourites, Sketched Flowers and Reverse Polka Background. It was a bit of a journey! I am sure I am not the only one who sometimes hits a creative wall! This spray of flowers sat on my desk for a couple of weeks (at least!) while I tried out different backgrounds. I couldn't let it go! I liked the flowers and finally said YES to the polka dots! I am afraid my video tutorial is a reflection of the turmoil and there are a couple of gaps! Sometimes you just have to GO WITH IT ... so onward!
The Background
The background was stamped with Simon Says Stamp's Reverse Polka Background on Strathmore's Bristol Smooth card stock sized 5 3/8" by 4 1/8" using Distress Oxide Inks Faded Jeans, Milled Lavender and Shaded Lilac. Milled lavender was then applied to the entire panel with a blending brush to soften the stark white polka dots.
The Flower Spray
The floral image was stamped with Versamark ink on Bristol Smooth card stock and embossed with gold embossing powder. Distress Oxide Inks Faded Jeans, Milled Lavender and Tumbled Glass were used to 'map out' my colour choices for the flower spray by applying the ink with a blending tool. I like to use this strategy as it accomplishes a couple of things. First it gives me a sense of how my colours are going to work together and, secondly, it fills in the background for this intricate image. The detail colouring was then completed with Zig Real Brush Clean Color markers ... a fast and easy way to accomplish a water colour look! The image was fussy cut and mounted on white sheet foam.
The Sentiment
The sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Happy Days was stamped with Versamark ink on an inked panel of Faded Jeans and Shaded Lilac. It was embossed in gold and die cut. The sentiment was also mounted on white sheet foam.
Putting It All Together
The background was adhered to an A2 sized card base (4 14" by 5 ½"). After the foam backed elements were attached, the card was embellished with Nuvo Crystal Drops, Mustard Gold.
