COCOA BOMBS featuring tags with Simon Says Stamp’s ETCHED BERRY BRANCH & ETCHED DELICATE FROND

Hello everyone! Today’s post is something a little different … I have ventured out of my craft room and into the kitchen! I manage to find my way back though! Last year when Cocoa Bombs were all the rage, I was determined to make them this Christmas! And I did it … times 25! They are going to make their way to family, friends and teachers decked out with tags featuring Simon Says Stamp's ETCHED BERRY BRANCH and ETCHED DELICATE FROND.

For the Cocoa Bomb ‘HOW TO‘, please view the video tutorial covering both the bombs and the tags.

PREPARATIONS FOR THE TAGS

Pieces of Canson XL water colour paper were painted with Gansai Tambi paints; dark blue, eggplant, green. The dark blue and eggplant panels were spattered with watered down Gouache. Spatters of Distress Stain Tarnished Brass were added to just the eggplant panels. All the die cutting was completed for both tags at once:

  • blue water colour paper and Neenah Classic crest 80 lb card stock - tags using Simon’s LARGE STANDARD TAG and LARGE ROUNDED TAG

  • eggplant water colour paper - ETCHED DELICATE FROND and berries from CHRISTMAS FOLIAGE

  • green water colour paper - ETCHED BERRY BRANCH

  • matte gold card stock - berry branch and holly leaves from CHRISTMAS FOLIAGE

The labels and banners were die cut from vellum. The sentiment from Cocoa and Love was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed in gold. A hole was punched on the banners.

Etched Berry Branch

This set of tags was assembled fairly quickly. I began by wrapping 3 strands from a piece of DMC metallic embroidery thread around the tag. The wrappings were held in place by two strips of double sided tape on the back of the tag. This tag was then adhered to another tag. Foam squares were placed at the base of the leaves and liquid adhesive was applied to the main stem. The label was adhered with a drop of glue and then covered with gold confetti. Sequins were adhered to the berry detail and finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew. The metallic embroidery thread was slip knotted through the hole in the tag.

ETCHED DELICATE FROND

The edges of the tags and tips of the leaves were embossed in gold. Glue was applied to the main stem and the frond was adhered to the tag. The banner was attached by adhering the gold berry branch over both the banner and the tag. Gold metallic embroidery thread was slip knotted through the hole in the tag. The holly leaves were attached. The eggplant coloured berries were adhered to the berry detail and to the top of the holly leaves. They were finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew. Bows were tied using the embroidery thread. Sequins topped with Morning Dew embellish the individual strands. Please view the video tutorial for more details. Both the tags and bows were left overnight to allow the drops to completely dry before the bows were adhered to the base of the hole on the tag.
