I had a fairly recent post using silhouette images in thank you cards but wanted to expand on this theme focusing on friendship. If you placed a variety of stamp sets in front of me and asked me to choose my favourite, I would most likely choose a sentiment set … and the more heartfelt the better. I love Simon Says Stamp’s INSIDE FRIENDSHIP MESSAGES. It includes a good variety of big and simple messages and others with smaller text expressing kindness, thankfulness and encouragement. A beautiful set that I wanted to couple with a number of Simon’s silhouette images on beautiful ink blended backgrounds.
I began with A2 sized Bristol Smooth card stock and ink blended all of the backgrounds with Distress Oxide inks. The silhouette images from Simon Says Stamp were stamped with Black Onyx Versafine ink. I used a stamping platform as all of the images needed to be repeat stamped to get a solid silhouette appearance.

The Versafine ink needed more drying time than the Distress Oxides … not sure why!!! I have not experienced this before! I let the panels sit for two days and still had to hit them with the hit tool and use lots of anti static powder before I could emboss them. The sentiments from Simon’s INSIDE FRIENDSHIP MESSAGES were embossed with Ink On 3’s Gol Rush embossing Powder.
The panels for the three cards above were trimmed to 4” by 5 1/4“ and die cut with Simon’s STITCHED RECTANGLE. When both the rectangle and the border are used together, you have a double stitched detail … awesome! The border was centred on an A2 card base and the rectangle panel was mounted on black sheet foam before being adhered. The WILDFLOWERS cards were finished off with gold confetti topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew. The centres of the small flowers on the 3rd card were dotted with Nuvo Crystal Drops Mustard Gold.
The panel for the card above was simply trimmed to 4” by 5 1/4“ and mounted on a slightly larger panel of Pearl Gold card stock by Sizzix before being adhered to an A2 sized card base. It was embellished with gold confetti topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
The panel for this card was also trimmed to 4” by 5 1/4“. Simon’s A2 THIN FRAMES was used to die cut both the panel and Pearl Gold card stock. The border and the thin gold frame were adhered to an A2 sized card base. The panel was mounted on black sheet foam before it was attached to the card. It was finished off with … you guessed it! … gold confetti topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
